Ok, I know this is dumb, but it really kind of bothered me, and you are the only ones I can talk about this to.
I called my friend (who is in church) and asked her if she'd like to go to the park with me and my kids. First of all, her daughter is saying in the background "mama don't want to talk".Secondly, my friend was acting like she was all depressed and said that she probably wouldn't go because she was depressed. All of this would be fine with me except she has been acting hurt toward me because I haven't been able to spend as much time with her lately.(So I was trying to include her).
All of this would STILL be o.k. except I got a phone call from a youth in our church asking if it would be o.k if my friend dropped her off before youth at my house so that I could take her to youth. It seems that they all went swimming together?
I don't care but why all the theatrics and bogus excuses? Why not say"No I have plans."?
whatever. If it seems like I'm tired of trying it's because I am.

Just be YOU!

Too many mind games , I think it sounds like they know how you will feel and ,maybe this is the outcome they wanted to send you some "subtle' message .

Isn't it all about control, manipulation?

I don't see what you did wrong ,so just keep being you and don't let "em see this has affected you ,if you can.

My (ex) "best" friend started playing these games with me ; with the Pastor and his wife...........I got to the point where I too said "Whatever" !!

It's like "get over yourself ; really?"

Love
Kerrin ;)

Believe it or not,,,,,,My "Best Friend" in our little town is a "Pentacostal Pastor",,,,,,hehehe we have many heated discussions when we Bible Study together......I am sure that we will never completely agree.....I am equally sure that there is nothing that I wouldn't do for him,or he me.You see him and I have learned that Friendship is a gift from God that is more important than being right ;) I pray that your "Friends" learn the same lesson. It frees you to live different "Spiritual" lives together. Now I am gonna go see my friend and see if I can get him goin about tongues :D :D About 1/2 way through his diatribe he will stop and say ,,,,," Damn you Jerry,,,,,,,you know that gets me wound up !!!!"Then he will smile and change the subject.
Love Jerry

And these are "real" people and "real" christians in Healthy relationship!!!
Agreeing to disagree!!

The disciples were always arguing and carrying on like "pork chops" !!!!
( another Aussie endearment!); BUT they loved each other! :D

So glad I can just be "me" and I'm ok! even though I'm NOT perfect!

I don't have many "friends" left since the whole Church fiasco BUT ; as I crawl back into society; I realise,. I first have to accept me and start over with the friend thing ....it's hard.
Especially when you thought you had "real" friends , but I guess it's another steep learning curve, and an adventure ( today : who knows how I'll feel tomorrow!!) :(

That's why My "closest" friends at the moment are agnostic! Thay know my beliefs ,they don't agree, BUT they don't judge me or discount my beliefs. We have started meeting weekly at the local Pizzeria, (sometimes other couples or singles come) ,and we have lots of "heated" debate!
I love it!
( At first I thought it was "cos our daughter's are friends and they felt sorry for me.
But "no", it seems they actually like my company, and don't mind my "spouting off" :D )

Well, someone's gotta put up with me :o
Love
Kerrin ;)

P.S It's a tough road to lay down the law (your rules of engagement), but stick to your guns, on your terms....
When They first invited me and I let fly with my opinion, I thought that would be my first and last invitation out!
Now they want me to join them every week........and tonight I discovered the wife actually has wondered if i would go to the movies with her some time.....
Maybe being a Christian and saying so isn't such a bad thing after all
