Here is another discussion I had with a couple of people regarding POSTIONAL Truth. This makes it more clear.
Two Truths (04-Jan-01)
Baldy's theology learned from RCM who learned it from H-A has been proved to be filled with error by David Albert's book, "Difficult Scriptures". That being said, one basic problem they seem to have that they keep tripping over is the difference between positional truth and doctrinal truth involving Sanctification.
I explained that previously in my Sanctification, not Salvation post.
The parable of the prodical son best describes positional truth.
I am the son of my earthly father. Nothing can change that. As his son, I take his name as my identity and enjoy all the benefits of being his son. I didn't do anything to earn it or for that matter to deserve it. It just happens to be a fact. That's positional truth.
I have a heavenly Father. I am his son. I have my identity in Him. He said He would never leave me or forsake me. He will not disown His children. There is nothing I can do to change that positional truth. I cannot NOT believe it's not the truth because His Spirit live in me. It's a family Spirit. I may wander at times and not feel close to Him but that does not mean I am not His son. That's permanent. I have the seal of Sonship, His Holy Spirit.
So all the do's and dont's that Baldy and the rest of them get hung up on has nothing to do with positional truth. They are talking about doctrinal truth. That doesn't save. It's only belief in Jesus Christ as personal Saviour that saves. Now, if I follow Christ's instructions in righteousness, I will live a happier more fulfilled life now but it won't do a thing to assure me of my position as God's son. That was done at the very beginning. I am just maturing and in the process of Sanctification becoming more like Christ and less like the old man that was buried in Baptism.
That's where the lcger's err. They keep mudding the waters and combining the two sets of truth.
Sanctification, not Salvation Thursday, 04-Jan-01

The best story and example I can use is the prodical son.
Luke 15:13 And not many days afterward, the younger son gathered all together and went away into a far country. And there he wasted his property, living dissolutely.
Lu 15:17 And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father abound in loaves, and I perish with hunger!
Lu 15:18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, Father, I have sinned against Heaven and before you
Lu 15:20 And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.
21 And the son said to him, Father, I have sinned against Heaven and before you, and am no more worthy to be called your son.
Lu 15:23 And bring the fattened calf here and kill [it]. And let us eat and be merry,
24 for this my son was dead and is alive again, he was lost and is found. And they began to be merry.
One basic question. When did he stop being his son?
We are called Sons of God. When will God stop calling us his son/daughter???
Once U recognize who U are and your position, that's a great starting place. After that, what it seems your concerned with is more sanctification NOT Salvation.
There is a lot more that can be said about that better than me on Sanctification.
