Hello again---

While I'm "here," I thought I'd share the following e-mail with you as well....as sent to family and selected friends yesterday afternoon. See below if interested in the latest in our on-going "saga!"

If you've been praying for us, please do continue! This is going to be an "interesting" week----in ALL respects, I'm sure. I'm hoping to get in to see my chiropractor today as, unexpectedly, my back/hip is giving me more problems and I was having spasm pain yesterday. With "THINGS" to DO and needing to be on my feet more this week (as well as to lift things, etc.) this is going to require an even more delicate "balancing" act of managing available energy etc. than I knew it would be. And yes...sleep continues to be a problem as well and I AM up early again...so your prayers appreciated for that as well that I CAN manage to rest/SLEEP when I can so that I can get through this stressful time.

Thanks!

Hope you all have a good day. As always, you remain in my thoughts and prayers as well.

Love,

Theodora

Subject: Family; wedding preparations update

Hi all--

Just thought you'd like to know that our Man of the Hour has arrived safe and sound. (The bride) got (our Marine son) at the airport in Omaha c. 9:30 last night. At our suggestion---thinking we wouldn't have an opportunity like this for a while---they made the effort to get to church at ("our" Methodist church) with us this a.m.

It was SUCH a lovely morning---outside AND inside! They arrived in time to chat some with some of the "regulars" at (the church)---including one of the women in our new "Found Family" group. AND, as a special treat of the day, the bell choir from one of the large Methodist churches performed three numbers, including one with a soprano sax solo. Lovely!!! As an "introduction" to some church possibilities for (my "un-churched" daughter-in-law), it couldn't have been better. (My husband) and I were tickled to see (our son) leaning forward, obviously studying the bell choir technique! We all enjoyed it.

Then, (my husband) had to go to work, so left a bit early after the service and (our son) and (his bride) brought me home. At my suggestion, when we got back to the house, (our son)went over to talk to a neighbor who was outside....which in turn gave (the bride) and me more of a chance to chat than WE'D had in some time! Yea!!!

Sounds like they're getting the wedding plans well in hand and they'll be meeting with the pastor AND organist tomorrow. (YEA for that...! We were HOPING they'd opt for live music, but this has been FAR from certain!) We also had a chance to chat a bit, exploring such "nitty-gritty" as the possibility of using the church's free-standing wooden candelabra in the church. (The pastor had shown (the bride) her bridesmaids and me this last Monday when we went out to the church to discuss the possibilities for the "Open House." Now they'll decide whether they want to use it.)

My happy news is that the UMW (United Methodist Women) will be helping to host our "Open House"/aka "Hospitality Room" before the actual wedding. NO idea who might come to this, but we thought this would be a good opportunity for the different sides of the family to at least meet "informally" before the wedding (as they haven't had a chance to do before now) AND, for those guests who have come from out of town, a place to rest, relax and get a bite to eat before the Main Event. We'll see. I know (our son) has encouraged folks to come---and I'm grateful for that.

Well...we can but OFFER, right??? As I've done before, like a good "scout" I'm trying both to be prepared for those who MIGHT come AND to have a way to move on any left-over food. I'm thankful to the UMW ladies (and their husbands!) for agreeing to help!!! (They'll also prepare the sandwiches ahead. I ordered the bread, meat and cheese last week, as well as purchasing other food.) We'll be giving a donation to their mission work for their efforts.

Soooo...."The good Lord willin' and the creek don't rise," it looks like "all systems are go!"

NOW...How's THAT for "mixed metaphors!"

I'm tired....natch!....and the back is non-too-happy with me at the moment for the amount of activity asked of it lately, but I AM resting as able and doing "relatively" OK, so I'm thankful for that.

Amazingly...the other "major" news for us for this week is that after having waited 2 years to work on reclaiming our back yard from the mess made by plumbers re-building our connection to the main sewer line, this past Wednesday, we got the bare area aerated, seeded and fertilized. THEN, (my husband) got straw and got it spread on Friday when he was off...AND....you'd hardly believe this!...laid down SEVENTY-FIVE paving stones to create a path across the yard to our garden shed. He has plans to bed the cement stones "properly" in the spring, but came up with this idea when we realized that having the seeded area to walk over had essentially made it impractical for us to get out to the shed. Soooo...HE came up with this as a solution!!!

Imagine my brave hubby trucking in all of that in two loads from Menard's in our small-to-medium-sized car, and laying MOST of it by the light of the moon, and you'll have some idea of how TRULY amazing a feat this was. You'll have to ask him the details, but, he CLAIMED to be non-the-worse for wear the next day, when he had to go to work, so......MORE YEA'S!!!

Thanks to those of you who may be keeping us in prayer during this "interesting" time in our lives. One way and another, it's looking like it will be a REALLY "memorable" week.

End of message.
