After you click on the thread that you want to read, if you go to the top of the screen, you'll find the "Thread tools" icon. In that "drop-down" menu, you can click on "Printable Version"----- which I find has MUCH more readable type for me. It ALSO doesn't have such a small "box" around the text, which I find more "user-friendly" too. (It had occurred to me that part of my unconscious/subconscious initial resistance to this format was that I was feeling a bit LITERALLY "boxed in!"
In following information given my our adminstrator gave us in the context of another post, I've also finally "discovered" that you can click on "Display Modes" icon at the top of a thread and re-order the messages so that they are chronological and "threaded," and therefore make a bit more sense, rather than working your way UP from the bottom of the thread, as I had been, using the "Linear, reversed chronological order" modality. (And yes, I confess that I have YET to work through the "FAQ" where all of this would, no doubt, be explained. Just trying to learn enough as I go so that I CAN use this format, while I'm also REALLY busy with "other things!)
I've not yet looked into what having a "threaded modality" means in terms of being able to respond directly to a message response to the main message, but, as I understand it, being in this "threaded order" modality makes that possible, (rather than just clicking on the main "response" key which puts your message in response to the initial message.)
Not sure whether I expressed that well enough to be understood, but you all know that all this "techie" stuff is NOT my forte. I was just sort of excited to find out that if I click on the "printable version," I don't have to struggle with type that is a bit too small for my comfort in reading the messages on the standard screen. ESPECIALLY when there are long-ish discussions occurring, that makes it much easier to follow the "conversation," I think.
Incidentally...I've not really looked into the use of color that we now have for our messages and appreciate everyone's creativity. I DO have a suggestion, however, and that is to limit your color choices to perhaps 2 per message. Much more than that---ESPECIALLY if other people have used color---seems sort of distracting to me.
For similar reasons, I'd suggest not using TOO many "emoticons" in each message, since the color of these little "people" tends to make my eye "jump" past the written message to the color...and then back. Again...it's sort of distracting for me, though I do appreciate being able to "express" feelings that way too.
Just a thought....or two...."FWIW!"
Blessings to you and yours this day!
