View Full Version : and i just heard...
my girls just told me that their friend, christina,( the other pastor who just moved, his daughter) told them that 2 weeks ago her mom and another mom brought up the girls names again before the church for prayer. FOR WHAT? you might ask.
let me tell you. " for their dark and sinful secrets and lifestyle."
2 weeks ago, after a teen get together, my daughter and a couple of other teens including christina, went out riding afterwards, they took my camcorder and went to wendys parking lot where they would interview workers or customers and video tape it. nothing bad just probably annoying. nobody complained, most laughed, some just walked away. well they did this for about 3 hours. in between they just sat and talked either to each other or on cell phones.WELL< THEN......they went home!!no drugs, alcohol,, stealing or sex!!
well again, word is out to "stay away from those girls". is it just me or am i letting the girls do something wrong? i knew where they were, what they were doing and with whom(but not til afterward).
and this is the church that keeps praying(or preying, depending on how you look at it) and makes it known they are praying for us( the girls and me) to get our hearts right and come back.! is there something here i am not seeing?? is practical joking stuff a sin? i know it can be if taken too far but soo far it hasnt.
i am so ready to stand up in church and say whats on my mind....but i just dont know if that would do more harm than good. one day im gonna crack though and when i go off..........LOOK OUT!!!!!

Being annoying (if they were) is not a sin. It's probably part of being a teenager.
Unless they were threatening people if they didn't talk to the camera - I can't see how anything could be wrong with it.
It seems to me that praying for someone's "dark secrets and sinful lifestyle" certainly implies illicit sex or drug use. I wouldn't be capable of it myself, but this is where I have fantasies of going to a church meeting and standing up in the middle of prayers and asking, in front of the whole congregation, just exactly what sins your daughters are being accused of. Even if they end up saying "Videoing people in a parking lot", at least it's out in the open and people aren't imagining prostitution or whatever.
Am I allowed to say "Bastards!" here?
Damn, this is bullying in God's name. I don't believe in "Hell" as a place that God sends people but I also don't think that God takes kindly to manipulative lies in his name.
To me it is always interesting when people pray like that,
for their dark and sinful secrets and lifestyle."
It is so freaking vague and implies terrible things but everyone has to fill in the blanks for themselves...and honestly, if it was like the people that I knew; it doesn't have to be about the movie taping thing--- "the spirit could have told them..."
sinful secrets???? Well, at least your girls are keeping those sins a secret ;)
In my opinion, to confront them would feed in to their lies about you being rebellious etc....people that pray like that find ways to make other's angry-- and then accuse them of being insane or demon possessed in their anger.
I think video tapping the staff is a creative exercise in keeping themselves busy. Nothing wrong with it in my book- beats staying home bored and driving you nuts or getting themselves into dangerous mischief.
A lot of teens these days are having fun with camcorders-- there are "homemade" movies every where...
Honestly, it may be a good thing for your daughters to stay away from those teens. If it were my son it would be a great learning opportunity to teach him how dangerous spiritual abuse is and to have no part in the players....sure the other girl is only a teen-- but I would keep my son away from them for his own safety. People capable of false allegations against teens having innocent fun will see other evil in innocent things and make more false allegations....
Only my opinion,
(((DLL)))
I know how terrible it can be when your child becomes a victim of their disease...try not to personalize it. If it wasn't your children, it would be someone else's. People like this THRIVE on seeing evil in the midst of innocence...

Seems to me that if the girls were even being annoying, then they would have been kicked out of Wendys. If they were there for 3 hours then the managment must not have had any complaints. I know a kid that got kicked out of McDonalds for mooning the security camera (I share this so you may have a good laugh!!!). Sounds to me like your girls were having innocent fun and those other people need to get a life.

A kid here was expelled (17 year old) because he vomited on the Spanish teacher. He says he became ill because of the stress of finals. The teacher says it was deliberate (how does he know? Did the spirit tell him?) The school told the parents to find an alternate school.
This is as bad as the grade school boy who was expelled for kissing one of the girls.
It sounds to me like the girls were just having a fun evening.
I'd rather they be video taping at Wendy's than in the back seat of a car making out with a boy. Lots of danger there.
It appears that the church leaders are on a 'witch' hunt.

How can a child make themselves sick on purpose? I can't do that...
I just came back from taking my son to lunch at the school that he will be attending for Kindergarten next year. He is already in their preschool but I was worried about him handling the cafetaria. He has a lot of sensory issues-- and here I am worried about full day kindergarten.
It was an awesome experience. The current kindergarten class welcomed him and drew him into play. My husband couldn't believe it.
It is funny how at 5 we all know how to get along. There was a handicapped child- many different races-- and they were all getting along.
My 17 year old is in the middle of final exams. I think people forget how much stress these kids are under- he just took his SATs and got back his scores. He has back to back finals all week. I just picked him up and noon and he is sleeping.
DLL-
your daughter can come over hear and videotape all she wants...the kids get a HUGE group here on Saturdays and play paintball. A few church youth groups come, we get pizza for them all. Girls come to.
You can also come on Friday night-- last week went so well that we are doing it again this week :)

I had a literal heart attack during my senior year. Of course the headmaster had us churning out 10 page papers every week--most of which he never bothered reading. Definitely a cultic enviroment.

D.L.L-- What is it with these people? They sound crazy. But my question is--is T.V. allowed? Is that what they are referring to? If not, then they are mad that your daughters don't have to play by the same rules that they (although voluntarily) have to play by.Whatever the case, these vague references to sin or (as you mentioned in another post- )"deception" are all intended to get you to question yourself and put yourself "under the authority" of the church.Don't let the vagueness of it all confuse you--if there were specific things for them to gossip about YOU BETTER BELIEVE THAT THEY WOULD.WOULDN"T THEY??It's just that your daughters haven't really done anything wrong so they have to insinuate. It happens all the time here in my neck of the woods.
actually, tv isnt really allowed. twice a year, during november and april it is forbidden; and somewhat in august, it isnt allowed, unless you feel it is absolutely necessary.
also, the boys were told one year that they were "idolworshippers" just because they owned and loved to ride 4-wheelers. when the boys got older and went "rooting" ( a red-neck sport), they were really castaways!!!!
i feel so guilty now about what i put my kids through, in the name of GOD.
ok DLL-
for the sake of us northerners you're going to have to explain rooting. LOL
and why is tv forbidden in those two months...and kind of in august? I am sure that there is some logic....???
Jane
o jane, come see me and let me take you rooting  . its something you have to experience!!!!! :D
rooting is when you have an old pickup truck(hopefully already messed up somehow) and get as many people in it as possible or on the back, and go through these planned mud holes and climbing up steep embankments( that police really dont want you on, but usually dont say anything if they see you unless you are damaging the property) as fast and reckless as you can. nobody gets hurt, unless it is from the mud flying, and it is kinda boring after a few times. and the one who comes out with the dirtiest truck that doesnt require any mechanical work, is the .....winner? so to speak>
the only time i got really afraid was when my son took his ford bronco onto some railroad tracks at midnight on a steep embankment with no lights. after i freaked out and laid down some real rules(since he was on my car insurance, not to mention my life insurance), needless to say he wouldnt let me go anymore. LOL
but about the tv........in nov and april is when the prayer revival begins for 10 days each. and the pastor doesnt want any distractions of any type to interfere with the praying, before or after the revival. no preaching or talking is allowed in the building during this time and we are supposed to sign a covenant as to what we are to do or not to do during this time. in august is when the kids come back from camp all rededicated and everything and the church just thinks it is might be better if they keep the world away from them as long as possible after they make their commitments.

:o
I won't even begin to tell you what "rooting" means in Australia!
Just don't tell an Aussie you're taking them "rooting" :o
Love
Kerrin ;)
HOLY CRAP! AM I allowed to say that here?
They make you sign a what????
for why????
I am reacting. Let me think about this more, I am sure that I have something more rational to say.
Until then,
My oldest son's father had a ford bronco when we were dating/married. We didn't put anyone in the back; there was no back- had a cab. We went 4 wheeling- it sounds similar....
Routing to me is what a baby does when they try to nurse and turn their mouth towards you...hehehe
don't think I want to know what it means down under.....
Good Lord, God save us all, sign a contract for no distractions.....???
What happens if you break the contract by accident, you know visit your mother in the hospital who is watching tv???
Jane
tell me again,
how does t.v. on in my home affect or interfere with the praying going on in the Pastors home..
do you guys got some weird satalite interference down south or something?
My old pastor lives down the road, off the next road from me. I don't know when he is praying or watching his football.

Yikes! The no tv thing is creepy. All I can say is don't drink the kool-aid! ;)
or where the same sneakers.....LOL
Jane
about that prayer thing-- seems to me God can hear prayer inspite of interference from the tv. He heard Daniel in a Lion's den; he got Jonah in the belly of a whale; he found Saul on the way to kill his own people.......
I think he can hear through the television static;
but I could be wrong; I am known to be decieved too.. ;)

D.L.L--our church preaches against (though not as much anymore) (read on and find out why!)T.V.Ironically,all of the families with children who do not have a t.v (except us) have a "moniter" and Nintendo.(We don't have either.)--but we do have a computer.(duh). Nevertheless, some of these families won't let their children read fiction books (they are all lies) or go to movies (although they rent them) Go figure. It seems like (to me at least) that the people in charge make rules and then when their children get old enough to have the rules effect them, then the rules slacken. Then after the children grow up the rules get tighter again --at least until grandchildren come along--oh forgive my bitterness--its seeping out again.

In regards to upchucking (vomiting), it can be done wit a finger down the throat. Don't you just know the teacher saw that happen. Hmmm.
Rootin' sounds like 4-wheelin' or off-roadin' here in the midwest. My ex son in law took a dune buggy to Oklahoma to ride the sand dunes. Our daughter went a couple of times and once they took their infant daughter.
A church that forbids TV for certain times of the year definitely sounds like a controlling group.
