On the off chance that you're a newbie to spiritual abuse and simply screwed up real good, (When I think about how I acted in the bewildering aftermath of my abusive experience I could have done what you did.) I thought I'd put out an olive branch and invite you to try again. As they say in a book I'm reading, "Once more without the feelings..." I'd recommend dropping authority at the door. We've all been hurt by inappropriate use of authority and we only honor those who earn authority by the excellence of their compassion and wisdom. Frankly, if you are braver than I am and read all the posts I'd say you're probably clued into the mistakes you made and how powerfully hurtful they were.
I just wanted to give you a chance to say you were sorry, and to try again. Just because you haven't fully processed what happened to you and you're still using old patterns to relate to people doesn't mean you haven't been abused. It may just mean your abuse is still so fresh you haven't even begun to notice how truly screwed up you are.
None of us has given up on God. We've just given up on people and churches who think they are God. To accuse us of giving up on God because we rightly walked away from people who were harming us in His name is hurtful. However, I think all of us have been through the drill enough to realize how hard it is to understand just what really happened to you when you first leave an abusive situation or begin to identify a situation as abusive. I think if you came back with a more open and listening attitude you'd find folks who could help you. Don't be afraid when the world finishes falling apart to come back and try again. From our perspective, you haven't gotten it yet.
I'm no expert either. I still screw up. This is a pretty tolerant place for mistakes as long as you don't step on six or seven nerves at once. :rolleyes:
