Went to take care of a relative's pet last night and ran into my nephew at their house! He just got back from Sweden on a two year "mission trip" and his heavily involved in a cult. (Wasn't sure about the rules for posting specific cult names so I'll leave it anonymous for now). This young man gave me a hug and inquired if there was one thing I learned from MY mission trip to Nepal (this was when I was a teenager around his age - years ago). I mentioned back that I don't think I can pinpoint just one thing that I learned. We continued chatting to catch up on everyone's life in the family (he made it home to see one of his brothers getting married this weekend). Then he wanted to show me pictures on a CD through the computer. Naturally, I showed an interest and the phrase "keep loving him" kept coming to my mind. After he told me about getting a calling, I asked him, "And where does that come from?" He replied with, "The lord." To which the Holy Spirit within me cringed and I wondered, "Which lord??" At this point I just casually mentioned that "you know you and I don't agree on these things, right?" He said, "Yes, I know." To which I replied, "I just didn't want to be pretending here with you." And then he continued sharing and I left to get my daughter from a horseback riding lesson and his cousin came to pick him up to make the three hour trip to the wedding for the weekend.

On my way to pick up my daughter, I felt really sad.

What a loving way to speak to your nephew.
I pray the lord continues to bless you, as you heal too.
( That' s kind of how I maintained my love and relationship with my brother
before he died of AIDS; kept talking, telling him I loved him, talking about Jesus, and about his own personal choices; I like to think that maybe in some small way i made a difference when he died so peacefully :( )
