MinistryWatch.com Issues Donor Alert for Benny Hinn
The Lincoln Tribune, USA
June 1, 2005
Donors advised to find other ministries to support while questions of finances, unfounded claims of healings, nontransparency and other issues addressed.
MATTHEWS, N.C. – Wall Watchers, through its donor empowerment Website www.MinistryWatch.com, has issued a Donor Alert for Benny Hinn Ministries/World Outreach Church (BHM).
Wall Watchers’ CEO Rusty Leonard explained, “Recent facts and allegations aired on NBC DATELINE – coupled with MinistryWatch.com’s previous concerns about the self-serving ‘prosperity theology’ taught by Benny Hinn – has caused MinistryWatch.com to recommend that donors prayerfully consider redirecting their gifts to one of the many biblically-based ministries that are not only more transparent in their dealings with the public but also treat donor’s funds as a sacred trust dedicated exclusively for the Lord’s work.”
Included in the accusations launched by Benny Hinn critics for the DATELINE broadcast are claims that Hinn and his family enjoy a lavish lifestyle with funds intended for charitable purposes, that he preaches a fraudulent, self-serving version of the Bible, that he manipulates individuals at “healing crusades” for personal gain, that he makes unsubstantiated claims of healings, and that the ministry is nontransparent and lacks independent board oversight.
Leonard argued, “It is Hinn’s refusal to be accountable to anyone – rooted in a conveniently defiant view of accountability where he is to answer only to God since he receives extra-biblical words, hence the Word of Faith moniker – that is the primary precipitant for each of the critiques identified above. Donors deserve more and the Bible requires a higher standard.
Hence, MinistryWatch.com recommends that donors prayerfully consider withholding contributions to Benny Hinn. Those that oppose such action should consider that the reported exorbitant spending of the Hinn family reveals that BHM has far more money than it needs to carry out its ministry. MinistryWatch.com also recommends that all Christians join with it in praying specifically that Benny Hinn and his family acknowledge their failures in the stewardship of the money entrusted to them by donors, and humbly submit themselves to a process of personal repentance and restoration.”

Hi John,
Remember when we discussed the WOF movement. I went to the Ministry Watch website and located this. It is in PDF format and an excellent piece discribing them.
It is 6 pages long with references to Benny Hinn, Creflo Dollar, Kenneth Copeland, Kenneth Hagan, Joyce Meyer and TBN.

P.S. It is an excellent site for source references.
Kerrin,
I have been spared too because I have no idea who she is. . . . .
but my old pastor is on PAX so look out guys, he wants to make it to the big time!
Do you guys ever notice that a lot of these preachers on tv all have a globe somewhere on stage or on their podium.
Right before we left, they changed our symbol from Victory Tabernacle (where the V was a dove and the wing a flame) to a globe! Their slogan is now, "a dynamic church for the 21st century"
My husband said, gee, they are changing to be like all those "global ministries-- they all "look the same".
hey, I have heard that all the crabs have descended on Australia-- is that weird or what?

Jane[/QUOTE]
A lot of the American WOF ministries have linked up with the mega churches "springing" up here,( Hillsong etc...) ,and often have them as guest speakers or worshiping etc....
It's all getting very blurred though!
Again, they call themselves "Pastor" (What are their qualifications? , and who are they accountable to)........Same old ,same old!
The sad thing is ;someone like Darlene Zschech who has written some beautiful songs, and also sings beautifully , has started a Ministry for women specifically (Mercy Ministry), with her husband ;I feel are being exploited !!!
Joyce Meyer has had her over there. She has had major recording companies after her ,and recently did an interview on a prominent current t.v station where she made it clear : her songs, her ministry, her worship is all about praising God!
She has out sold numerous mainstream "pop" singers and when asked about that she just kept saying God gave me a gift ,and that is to spread the gospel and worship him!! And help young women in crisis!
( She is very Transparent!!)
She is a VERY marketable commodity ,because not only is she gifted in this area ,she is also VERY attractive physically.
I just pray as I watch others at Hillsong push their own "barrows" so to speak , they don't damage her..............somehow think not ;)
A humble beautiful woman! :)
Love
Kerrin ;)
P.S sorry if I sound dumb about the 'crab" thing.......probably got lost in the translation LOL :D
my fault-- it had NOTHING to do with the post. On my email news they sent me an article about crabs flocking to Australia on some sand bar. THey said the crabs were like 4 feet deep and this phenomena has not happened before. THe pictures were creepy, thousands or millions of crabs all on top of each other. They were spider crabs.
Sorry to confuse you. . . I figured if it made news here it must 've been big news in Australia...

The WOF lifestyle sounds all too familiar. LOL!
Wonder if the watch group gives any suggestions on who to contribute to?
Doug
Actually, Yes, they recommend me :D
;) Jane
Honestly, if I remember correctly, on the 60 minute show where they were exposing Hinn; they did recommend Billy Graham. I think they said that he was one of the first to register with an outside agency that audits their financial records. I think you can ask the charities that you donate to how they audit or track their records.
As for my husband and I, we prefer to give locally. It feels more safe. THere is a local food pantry as well as ABC (A BETTER CHOICE) a inter faith group of people who actually help mothers who choose not to have an abortion. They help with clothes, food, pampers, etc. These are the charities that we trust, we see with our own eyes that very little money gets caught up in burraucracy (SP- sorry, I am tired).
We also love to give "blessings" anomously to people we know are struggling. It is so fun watching them trying to figure out who it is from= and they never do!

( WE have much bigger isues at the moment ,I,E SchapelleCorby? in Bali!!!( If I elaborate on that I will get into trouble, suffice to say prayers for Justice are desperatly needed!!) Another Political mindfield with an innocent scapegoat!
I DO know we have the best seafood in the world though : anyone for Lobster???? :)

Reg...I just read the article. It was very good and sound in it's reasoning. I agree completely.
