Just a quick check-in en route to getting ready for church. I'm going to attend an early Eucharist at another Episcopal church in town, then go on to sing at "our" Methodist church. I
have a dual purpose in going to this other Episcopal church, wanting to deliver some flowers which the ladies can use for the luncheon after the funeral on Monday and....it is important to me to actually be able to receive the sacrament...which the Methodists don't do on a regular basis. (If you caught a recent post....I think I told you about my little "adventure" on Friday, delivering a packet of CareNotes to my former priest for his mother-in-law who was announced as dying on Thursday...only to find out that she had already passed away! I then took the CareNotes on for use with a friend who is also in hospice care.) This a.m. I may also be able to put together a packet of CareNotes for the grieving instead for their use.
I'm HOPING that our Marine and his bride will ALSO be at the Methodist service---not having heard anything to the contrary---but we'll just have to "go with the flow" and let that one play itself out as it will. He was to have arrived by plane last night in Omaha.
If interested, the Upper Room Devotional yesterday was....um...."poignant"/"empowering" I thought.... This was

Read 1 Kings 19:1-18
Elijah was afraid and ran for his life. . . . "I have had enough, LORD," he said.
-1 Kings 19:3-4 (NIV)
Somehow, it seems "reassuring" to me to know that even the Lord's "giants" in the faith, ALSO had their moments of being overwhelmed, confused, etc. and the Lord STILL used them in a powerful way to do his work.
Grace and peace to you all this day. As always, "more as able" -- ;) :) AND, as always, I will be thinking of you all and keeping you in prayer. May today bring you renewed hope and courage and, truly, something to SMILE about!
:) :D
Love,
Theodora
