Trouble posting

I've been having trouble with the posting with quotes. Sometimes I get the message that my post is too short and I need to add three more characters. It's not true ..........my posts are quite long.

Last post I couldn't add any smilies. Is there something wrong with the system?

I would appreciate any help.
