View Full Version : Really Really Mad At Pastor Don

I am spring cleaning my kitchen today and really trying to give my anger over to the Lord.

My kitchen is a wreck! The cabinets don't have doors, the counter is not secure!

This is what happened.

My husband started going to a Calvary Chapel church last summer after we left our church. They had a split, I think I wrote about it. That is when I pretty much left. Now I call it "the church my husband goes to" although he got smart and doesn't go anymore.

Pastor Don lost his job. We were told that he was a cabinet maker. So we thought it would be a win-win situation. We hired him to do the kitchen at $25 an hour. He gave us an estimate. He was going to be done before christmas. Then christmas came and went with a construction zone in my home. He did not know what he was doing! He came late, left early, counseled people from his church while here and made A LOT of mistakes. THE ONLY JOB FINISHED is the ice maker got hooked up. AND OUR FRIDGE DIED! We called a repair man and $120 later found out DON KNOCKED OFF THE FAN IN THE BACK WHILE REPAIRING THE ICE MAKER!

HERE'S WHERE WE SUCK- they never ever had a vacation since they moved to Connecticut from California. They were going home to visit their family for the first time in 7 years. We paid them $500 (the bill was going to total 675.) as an advance. TOTALLY MY DUMB IDEA> figured he was coming all the time and would finish it!

He came one time to the house after his vacation with a group of men to help put up our gutters--- their outreach project. Well, they worked hard ripping out old sheetrock in the basement but never hung the gutters ???????? I was a confused wife but figured let the men work---??? grateful for any help.

WE HAVE NOT SEEN HIM SINCE> My husband went back to that church right after their help and thanked him.

Last night their administrator (a very nice lady) called to see how we were doing. Don told her that he was waiting for us to call him    (WHO CAN SPELL< "TRIANGULATION")

We have been! And he says he is very busy and will get back to us . . . . .he thought he'd see us at church is why he hasn't called us back!

after she told us that, my husband called him, left a message saying, "I think we are confused, can you come out?"

We even found someone else to do the tiling that we already paid him to do but she can't without the counter top secure! My husband told him, can you please just secure the counter top?

NO RETURN CALLS!

My husband says we only have an estimate from him not a contract so again, WE ARE LEFT ROBBED BY A MAN OF GOD>

How does one NOT get bitter!

I want what we paid for! I am going to write him a letter and if that does not work an editorial for the newspaper!
NOVEMBER WE HIRED THIS THEIF! FREAKIN' NOVEMBER!

OH my goodness, after I wrote that, I called him and left a message.

I wasn't rude but I was clear about the fact that he needed to come out, finish his job and return our calls.

I am shaking.

Why is confrontation so hard? I am thinking, "he is going to call DCF on us in retaliation"

man!

I am glad I did it, but my heart is still pounding in my throat!

Jane,

I have a hard time calling my boss "Pastor" Ray. I call him that when I speak his name to church members, because they see him as their "pastor" - but he's not MY pastor and doesn't behave in a very pastor-like manner.

How about "huckster" instead? Or "shyster"?

And I certainly wouldn't recommend calling him a "man of God." God has nothing to do with the way he has been behaving.

But then, calling a spade a spade is what usually ends up getting me into trouble . . .

I like Voyager's name for these types: "Pasturd."

I certainly would let it be known all over the place what this guy is doing. It speaks to his character and integrity. Just don't let people call you the bad person for pointing out the problem. Be real clear on that.

Dear Jane,,,
I do the kind of work you posted about....Take pics,,,,,get proof from your bank that you paid him 500 bucks on a 675 dollar est,,,,and haul his ass to court...Heres a news flash for your Pasturd and you ;) ,,,,Once money changes hands on a cost estimate,,,,,,it becomes an "implied contract".....Also go to Court with an estimate from a reputable contractor to finish the remaining work...I suggest sueing him for the cost to finish the job,,,not just what you have paid him to date.I hate guys like that,,,,,I never screw people,,,,and dirtbags like him lowball the estimates,,,and I end up sitting home pickin my nose,,,,Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!

If it were me, I would threaten to publicize this story in the local newspaper as a letter to the editor.

Don would be calling you real soon.

Jerry and I have a better one for you - how about "Pasturd"? (As in "That no-good, low-down, dirty Pasturd!")

This makes me mad!!!!!!!!!!!! I know it is not my problem but arrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!........ ..

I Can't believe how Christians can be........never mind that he is a Pastor........he is a Christian first!

I'm sorry but Christians are the last ones I usually go to for help. Most can't be trusted. They think they have special dispensation because the are Christians.........what a load of crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I feel for you........Hey why don't you take him to small claims court and fix his clock? Just a thought.

Really?!

OK I am going to do it. At first I thought, geez does God want us to sue the Pastor. Then I thought, Does God want this man to get away with hurting Hannah's Haven??? Honestly, I don't know what God wants.

But I want to. I want to stand up for what is rightfully ours. I downloaded the estimate (he emailed it to us) and I typed a letter to him. I am going to send it certified mail. I can't until Monday so that will give him time to call us back. He never did call me back from my earlier call today. I am giving him 2 weeks to answer me in the letter

Then I am going to take pictures and go to small claims court. It will take a week or two for the bank to send me a copy of the cancelled check. It said right on it "payment not in full for kitchen." I wrote it in the memo.

I also will get a report from the repair man about the frige.

want to know the irony? HE TOOK PICTURES BEFORE HE STARTED TO HAVE PROOF OF THE WORK HE WAS GOING TO DO!

THANKS FOR THE ADVICE.

Thank you everyone for your advice.

I just may send copies of all the documents to the elders. I may send it to the papers too. First I want to see if he comes and finishes his work. Then I want to see what happens in court.

I don't want to get nasty and confrontation isn't easy for me. I am really sick of it though.

I am going to have my husband read all your posts.

It is hard for us to get out of the mindset that it is wrong to sue another christian. . .especially a pastor. What helps is that I don't want him to do it to anyone else.

Jane

:) love you guys----maybe we could start our own church together??
we could just let Jesus be the pastor.

Ummmm Jerry,

you're sitting home picking your nose

We have plenty of work here for you, YIKES!

We just painted the front of our house and realized that it is all the wrong color :o ! It was only one coat so it makes a nice primer :D . We still have 2 bedrooms to redo down stairs, 2 hall ways to wall paper, all the floors to sand, a front porch built, a back deck rebuilt, 2 bathrooms to gut out (we did one already), a firewall to build behind the woodstove and a laundry room to decorate.

can anyone spell VACATION? We need one. We are going to take the kids to Sesame Street in May for their birthdays and it is not a day too soon!

A little advice...

keep business business and charity charity

Business and charity rarely work together....

Good business practices require interdependence

interdependence is not Codependence because both parties are willing parties and both are better off after the fact...

If you mix charity with business you breed codependence...

my two cents...
