Any drunk can join AA, but to get into Al-Anon you have to know somebody
Alcoholic Alzheimer's: You forget everything but your resentments
Alcoholic Bottom: When things get worse faster than you can lower your standards
Heard at an AA meeting: Question: " What does the Big Book mean by "self-seeking"? Answer from across the room: "Don't worry, it will slip away"
The Bible says that the Lord delivered Daniel from the lion's den; nowhere is it written that he went back for his hat.
The more I try to control you, the more you control me
You can't run away from trouble; there ain't no place that far
In recovery, freedom may be less what we are free to do than what we are free not to do
Reality can be as painful to accept as it was to escape from
An oldtimer in AA was celebrating his 50th sober anniversary. A newcomer asked him how he had managed to stay sober that long. The oldtimer replied, "I never drink and I never argue with anyone." The newcomer said, "That's crazy! There has to be more to it than that!" The oldtimer paused, then smiled at the newcomer and said "Hmmmmmm, you may be right."
