History: The roots of Alcoholics for Christ go back to 1976 when a born-again recovering alcoholic and member of AA organized a retreat for A.A. men with a slight difference: all the leadership were born-again Christians. By the end of the retreat almost every man there had made a decision to accept Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. Other retreats followed, for both men and women alcoholics. Soon weekly prayer breakfasts and some Bible studies were also organized. In 1978 God began to enlighten the founders of Alcoholics for Christ with an in-depth understanding of the 12 steps of A.A and the word of God, the Bible. This led to the printing of the A/C workbook. Since then the workbook has become the outline of our group studies. The workbook is considered to be the second most important piece of literature in the A/C program. The first is the Christian Bible.
Attitude toward AA and other 12 Step groups: We encourage people to stay active in their local AA, NA, ACOA, or other support group and to continue to worship within their own body of believers.
Events: Annual retreats are held, usually in or near Detroit, Michigan.
